Look for something to block the normal "bad" stuff that's out there for the household, but do not want it to block normal things either.
The software that would be ideal is something that acts as a "hidden" program, that just does its job and runs.
What is the best internet filtering software out there?
Give "SafeEyes" a look-see. It's versatile with flexible settings for a variety of users and levels of access. No way around it either without knowing passwords. The software is pervasive and omniprescient with all internet applications (e.g., for each new session of internet use, there will be a pop-up login box). It may not be as "hidden" as you like - but that's the price you pay for its effectiveness. If you want thorough control and confidence that there are no workarounds, then safeeyes will work.

Reply:I actually use my router to filter all internet traffic. It allows me to be very detail in allowing what time my child can surf the web, to which sites, instant messaging and site ratings. The router also send me a weekly report of where she's been and who she's chatting with. Also, you can actually set up an approved user list, so they can only chat to those people
