My media collection on my zune software has produced doubles of many of my songs. I can not delete most of them because the are from a location that no longer exists. They will not play and can only be deleted if I change the name and then delete them. Could this problem be from syncing my software with other peoples zunes?
How do you delete doubles and media files that no longer exist from the zune software?
If it was in the collection then this was probably not cause by syncing with others zunes. You would have had to transfer the music from your Zune to the collection in order for it to have been there.
Even though the location no longer exists, I would right click on them in the collection and go to properties to see if the collection lists a location. If it doesn't then you are probably stuck deleting them the way you have been.

That's one of the few things they're good at. You can set hourly, half hour, daily alerts as well as price alerts.

What is the best software to detect and protect against dialers?
Trying to fix a friends computer and he has PeoplePc-the "smart dialer" is glitching-it won't save the member name and password and after the third or fourth diconnect and relogon it gives the error that username and/or password are invalid even though both are correct. When the smart dialer is dialing it says "MyHomeMyHome 555-5555 SVC_Dialer" (the phone number is actually the correct one but I didn't post it for the obvious reasons). On the first connection made after the fresh installation of PeoplePc the smart dialer says only "My Home 555-5555". Anyone know if this is a dialer, if it can be detected with any scanning software and/or how to remove it? Thanks

The first thing you would need to do if you do go ahead is to buy yourself a static IP address which will cost $80-$100 per month and then have a look at somewhere like this which is indeed user-friendly and easy to set up albeit with the above risks which you will unfortunately get wherever you go.

I'm using adobe photoshop 7 but I'm using it mostly for photo editing and for creating simple image and text effects. I can't seem to digitally paint or draw any image smoothly. Trying to fix a friends computer and he has PeoplePc-the "smart dialer" is glitching-it won't save the member name and password and after the third or fourth diconnect and relogon it gives the error that username and/or password are invalid even though both are correct. When the smart dialer is dialing it says "MyHomeMyHome 555-5555 SVC_Dialer" (the phone number is actually the correct one but I didn't post it for the obvious reasons). On the first connection made after the fresh installation of PeoplePc the smart dialer says only "My Home 555-5555". Anyone know if this is a dialer, if it can be detected with any scanning software and/or how to remove it? Thanks

This is a topic I would like to bring up for an upcoming project in my class. I am looking for more information on this matter. I understand of course that there are those who can report it but what about those that go unreported? Can a company actually know when a person has a pirated software running on his or her computer? I know that when most people had dial up back then we were not connected online unless we signed in, now when most people have highspeed internet (meaning the internet is always on,) can the company know? Sorry for the long question.

Go to best Buy or Circuit city and grab a USB Jump Drive. you can get a 1GB drive for under $50, and sometime cheaper. Put the files on the drive, go home plug it in and transfer them to your home PC.
Setup Ultra VNC on your home computer and remote into it and do a file transfer.
The list goes on and on.
Also the newer versions of Messanger aren't too bad for transferring files. They were really bad a year or two ago. the only issue you run into there is that if you dont' accept or decline the transfer from your home PC it'ss cancel it after a little bit. FTP's are a pain. i had quite a few setup on my home computer and got sick of people trying to break into them so i un-installed them all.

If you are just going to be using the laptop for word processing and email, you don't need to get a top of the line machine. Everyone has their favorite brand names, so I won't recommend a brand, but I would say go with a name that you know and not some generic brand like Ashire. For an aspiring writer you'd want to get her an office program. You could pay for Microsoft Office, or download Open Office for free. You wouldn't need an incredibly fast processor or too much memory for writing. I'd say a 1.5-1.7 MHz processor, and about 512 in memory would suffice. At least a 40G hard drive if not 60G. I would say that you'll have to spend about 600 - 700 dollars in order to get her a laptop that will last more than 6 months, unless you find a really good special. As for software that types what she says, there are a few links below to check out. I've never used them. I couldn't find any open source, so its something you'll have to pay for. If you have any other questions, let me know.

If you are just going to be using the laptop for word processing and email, you don't need to get a top of the line machine. Everyone has their favorite brand names, so I won't recommend a brand, but I would say go with a name that you know and not some generic brand like Ashire. For an aspiring writer you'd want to get her an office program. You could pay for Microsoft Office, or download Open Office for free. You wouldn't need an incredibly fast processor or too much memory for writing. I'd say a 1.5-1.7 MHz processor, and about 512 in memory would suffice. At least a 40G hard drive if not 60G. I would say that you'll have to spend about 600 - 700 dollars in order to get her a laptop that will last more than 6 months, unless you find a really good special. As for software that types what she says, there are a few links below to check out. I've never used them. I couldn't find any open source, so its something you'll have to pay for. First off, they'll probably ask questions to determine your level of knowledge. Questions about algorithms, basic programming methods, particular questions in your field of specialty. If they're really on the ball, they'll bring a short programming test with them (I always did), which has simple questions you can write out the answers to in just a few minutes IN CODE FORM -- things like, "write a routine in C++ to sort an array of 100 integers from lowest to highest and display the results." I used to have a 10-question written test.
They will also try to find out what your particular areas of interest are (graphics programming, web programming, that sort of thing) and if there are specific areas where you've done work outside classwork simply because it interests you. Be honest here, don't pretend to be interested in something just because you know their company would use it.
They'll also be very interested in your personality (what you like and don't like, what you do outside work or school, what your hobbies are); what kind of work ethic you have; how well you communicate and work with others (good writing and spelling are very important!), etc.

Reply:Most software companies will prevent you from downloading trial versions more than once by inserting entries in your registry that will alert the trial version of the software that a previous copy has existed before.If you can find the "tracer" in the registry you should be able to delete all evidence that you installed the program in the first place.
Be very careful about editing your registry as it can have drastic consequences if you don't know what you are doing!
However, many people have worked hard at developing and marketing the software you are trying to steal, before you intentionally break the law, I would suggest trying to find a freeware/shareware program that can do the same thing as the program you are trying to reinstall. There are many Open Source programs available and I am POSITIVE you can find something comparable to what you are needing. A good place to start would be http://sourceforge.net/. Good Luck!

I notice Rosetta Stone is an expensive program, but I think it sucks. Using it to learn Japanese is kinda useless, because there isn't much instruction in the program. This program does no even go over hiragana, nor katakana. It just throws symbols right in your face like it is expecting you to know these things.

Swap Magic allows you to play burned games and imports.
HD Advance lets you play games off of a hard drive, either backed up from a disc or otherwise (aka torrents...which are illegal).
Both require no modding at all. Swap Magic is cheaper, since HD Advance requires a network adapter and hard drive (or USB hard drive for slims). However, HD Advance is easier to use. You keep one disc in for the rest of your PS2's lifetime, rather than swapping discs each time. I'm lazy, so I got the HD Advance.

Where can I find a utlity to transfer installed software applications from one disk drive to another?
I have a number of installed software applications on my C:\ drive that I do not use regularly and I want to move them to another hard disk drive with more space. I remember Partition Magic had a utility to move installed software applications, but when I recently looked, I could not the function. I does not appear as part of the Norton Distribution.
I have looked at Laplink, but that is more suited to transferring installed software applications from one computer to another.
As a result, can some suggest a utility that I can purchase to do this?

You can simply use norton ghost. so you can make same copy of your harddisk to another harddisk or one partation to another partation.
Norton Ghost is a great utility to copy everything(installed) from a small/big hard drive to another big/small harddrive, but you have to use it carefully because if you done mistake to choose source and destination then you will be screwwwwed up.
Application Mover is a tool that relocates installed programs from one path to another on your hard disk. Application Mover takes files found in the path specified in the 'Current Path' field (see below) and moves them to the 'New Path' path. Application Mover scans the windows registry for references to files located in the 'Current' field and changes those references to the 'New' path. Application Mover also scans all windows shortcuts in the Start Menu and adjusts path references to the new program location. Finally, *.ini and Install.log files present in the original program path are checked for strings matching the old path location. If found, these strings are changed to the new location.

How do i get software that needs a dvd rom drive to work on my computer with no dvd rom drive?
I got some music software and it needs a dvd rom drive which is one thing i don't have. I was just wondering if there is anything i can download or something that is not expensive like buy a dvd rom drive. Thanks for your help!

there is no software that will emulate a DVD ROM drive.....you will need to get a DVD ROM drive....preferably a cdrw/dvd combo drive as this will give you more functionality, but of course you could go to the latest and get a dvd burner which will not only read all types but burn all types of discs. The cost is anywhere from 10 bucks to 100 depending on model and type you get. if its a laptop drive its going to cost more but functions the same...if its a PC then its easier to install and costs less....there are also external drives that hookup via usb but it would be my guess that if all you have is a standard cdrom drive the computer probably won't support usb 2.0 and it would be pointless to get an external drive.

How different is a software developer's life from a working professional in BPO, India ?
After choosing my favorite subject Physics for my Bachelors Degree, decided to pursue post graduation in Mass Communication, have just completed a year in BPO. Presently working for a Telephone and Broadband Service provider company, Tiscali based in UK. Also finished Core Java and is going to start with J2EE. Met a couple of friends in IT software development field, came to know about the work hours. A bit confused as which would be a better field in the long run.
How different is a software developer's life from a working professional in BPO, India ?
I would go with what you know, physics and mass communication. They are radically different than software development and unless you are a hardcore programmer, there is limited success. Not everyone was born a programmer and why waste all that time you spent on the bachelors and such by doing an unrelated field?

Where can i download software for a camera i purchased from a friend?
I purchased a Toshiba PDR-M70 from a friend who is currently searching for the software that goes with it. Is there anywhere on the web I can find the software for downloading. I checked Toshiba's site and found upgrades but not original software. If I download the upgrade, will it load the complete version or will it search for existing software to upgrade?
