What is the best software and format to use to pull an hour long video from a dvd and place it online?

I need to convert an hour long dvd from the disk to a website, so that students can watch the movie online. We have copyright permissions for this and the dvd dosen't have copyright on it. What's the best format for this online file, and what software will rip the dvd and convert it and do the html for me at once? Thanks very much in advance for any help,
