Any suggestions on a good book and / or software that aides in knitting pattern design?

I've got the basic, but I also do better after doing some extra reading. Any suggestions on books and / or software that teach you how to write a knitting pattern. Thanks!

There are some knitting design books, but they are a little older, except for this (It's got decent reviews on Amazon, but for me personally, when I examined it at the bookstore, nothing about it made me want to get it.):

As far as making life easier when writing a pattern, I have only used my computer's basic software (Word, Excel) to do charts. However, I have been looking into getting some knitting software/programs. Here are some reviews that I've found and bookmarked:

This blogger really examines the various capabilities of programs. Look at posts dated Jan. 10, 12 and 16

Good luck!
Reply:There is software available at www.greatknitdesigns.com (free download) that allows you to design and print patterns for sweaters and cardigans of all different styles and lengths. They also have programs for designing ponchos, shawls and afghans and also trousers, dolls clothes and pet jumpers. I don't know if this is what you are after but I thought I would let you know what I found. Have been using this software for years for designing crochet and knitting patterns for all my family and would recommend it to everyone.
