I would like to take photos of scenary and destinations and type the names of these destinations and dates on the photos I take. What photo software would allow me to do this? Thanks in advance.

Any photo program, really.
Paint is horrible quality but it allows you to do what you want without paying hundreds for a nice program like PS.
But if you did want to go for the high quality stuff Photoshop is the best you can get.
Reply:Adobe :D Good quality and the best to edit anything . Espiecially if your writing it will go in layers and it will allow you to change the writing and move it if you dont like it . When u will save the images u can still move the writing or even delete it , but if u flatten the image then the layers will be gone . Dont use paint ! It gives you poor quality !
