Do you need to use the Easyshare software with a Kodak camera?

I just bought a brand new Easyshare z885 camera and got software in the box. I don't really feel the need to use the software (I usually transfer pictures through a printer or memory card reader) and I don't really want to install more software (although I DO have room for it). Is there some kind of advantage to using the software or some feature that I'd miss out on by NOT using it? Also, what is that cheap clear plastic thing and the camera-USB cable for? I haven't been able to figure that out.

You don't need the software because your computer probably has phote software already. The clear thing enables any Kodak camera to sit on the printer dock. You probably should keep the usb cable to upload pictures to your computer, but if you have a computer that takes memory cards, memory sticks, or thumb drives, then you'll be okay with out it.
Reply:no never have with anyone of my several digital cameras..just a usb to upload pics to the computer

you can even get a car reader for your computer if you don't want to use USB
Reply:No. You don't ever have to use the software that is included or that the instructions tell you to use. I have the same kodak camera and I don't use it.
